film magazine analysis

The magazine title is right at the top of the page. However in this particular case the magazine designer has used a bright background, with a lot going on. And used quite plain fonts, It gives the same effect but is simply done differently.
The majority of the cover is dedicated to the ‘x-men’ film. The main character of the film is situated in the centre. This is to encourage fans to buy the magazine. Also, the actors film name is titled right at the top of the page, in white on a black background, with text saying ‘Wolverine’ is returning to ‘Empire’ insinuating he is only interviewing with this magazine.
Although I don’t think the white font works very well on the bright blue background. It can be hard to read as it has blend with the back slightly.

The magazine title is right at the top of the page and in a large, bold font. This is to ensure its really noticeable who the makers of the magazine are.
There is a lot happening on the cover, however Johnny Depp in right in the focal point of the page. This is because he is a big star, he is recognized by many. Having his image in the centre will attract fans attention to the magazine.
Using a plain black background attracts the reader’s attention to the actors on the cover and the text.
On the left hand side of the page there is an advertisement for a free poster, this has been don’t to convince people to buy the magazine. It has been made clearer by using font to contrast with the background, (white on black).
There is also a relevantly large text in an unusual colour saying, ‘exclusive interview’ this is for big fans that will want to know everything about Johnny Depp. An unusually font has been used to ensure it is noticed by viewers.
