Target audiences
After researching audience types and target audiences, we found that most people attracted to horror movies are of the age of 18 – 25.
We found that horror movies contain such things as blood, gore, violence and suspense and we thought that would be perfect for our teaser trailer. We also looked at other teaser trailers to get ideas which have come of a huge help in making our trailer.
I feel our teaser trailer would appeal to 18-25s because it contains everything there age would want such as violence, gore etc. it creates suspense, scenes of terrifying experiences and use of effects such as flashing white lights, fast motion scenes as well as slow motion and many more.
Our trailer contains characters that others might be able to relate to, as well as settings and happenings that people might find interesting. We found that many girls watch horrors if there is an actor in the film which is of their liking, as well as woman that appeal to men. As our trailer has a young man in it, young girls might find that appealing and so would want to watch it. It also contains a girl which might have the same effect to men.
It is based on reality and therefore allows people to relate to it, if someone is watching a horror for the adrenaline then it’s going to be far more frightening if it’s something they can relate to from their everyday life. It makes audiences want to watch it in that knowledge just to scare them. As it may make them believe it is possible to happen to them. Studies show that people watch horror films because they like the excitement and thrill and love to scare themselves.
